It’s the May Day
Holiday!
—— Miya
May Day, or Labor Day, is celebrated in various ways in different countries
around the world. For most Chinese families, May Day means a short five-
day holiday. As May is the month that everything grows and flourishes, the
May Day holiday is often referred as a "golden week" in China, which is the
perfect time for spring outing.
Get active! In the 13 cities of Jiangsu Province, places and preferences for
travelling and holiday spending are quite different, but most people spend
the holiday in ways like traveling around and leisure sports.
Spring is in the air everywhere across Jiangsu during the May Day holiday.
Visitors can choose to visit Nanjing's Jinniu Lake Wildlife Kingdom and get in
close touch with those lively animals; or take a stroll in Zhenjiang's Jurong
Fouroux Valley to experience grass skiing, horse riding and fruit picking;
otherwise, they can bike or jog along the Yangcheng Lake Peninsula in
Suzhou. Bring your family and friends, and enjoy the beauty of "Jiangnan,"
or the area south of the downstream Yangtze River during the late
spring and early summer time.
We will arrive at the traditional Chinese solar term "Beginning of
Summer" after the May Day holiday. As summer sends all her lovely
flower companions to the land, Jiangsu is ready to demonstrate new
glamour. Stay tuned!
